About Hannah

Hi there, welcome! Here's the top 5 things you should know about me, Hannah:

1. I L- O- V- E love Jesus. He is my constant inspiration and the force behind my writing. Even though Travis and my's adoption pushed me to start this site, God quickly showed me other ways He wanted to use this blog. My hope is that there is something for you here that helps you feel inspired to grow closer to Him.

2. I live and breathe for people. I love being around them. I love working with them, cooking for them, and having long conversations. Our house always looks one of two ways: like we just had people over, or like we are just about to have people over. I wouldn't change a thing.

3. I have the best husband. Travis is so strong and loves me the same way my Father loves me. No strings attached, just boundless love. He pursues Christ daily and it's evident in the way he treats people- work, church, family, all of it. Sometimes I like to just watch him. He's talented in ways I'm not, he totally calls me out when I need it & he makes me feel gorgeous on my ugliest days.

4. In the fall of 2008 I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (type 1) after experiencing two manic episodes that were four years apart. It was scary and horrifying and embarrassing and humbling and wonderful all in one. I share this not because having BD defines me, but because it was a cornerstone in my faith. It taught me dependence and openness. It taught me a lot about healing and accepting every part of yourself. I think most importantly, Bipolar Disorder has taught me how important it is to tell your story. The more you tell your story, the more you heal. The more people that hear your story and relate to it, the more people there are that are not alone. The more people God is able to reach in that, the more your pain has purpose. Mental illness is not something to be feared, it's something to acknowledge, embrace and release. You are not alone.

5. I am an adoptive mama to the most incredible boys, Benjamin & Graham. I love to share about our journey to starting+growing our family, as well as our adventures in foster care.

P.S. I am obsessed with my dog, Kappie. She is simply THE best.
